Halloween?

I'm terribly late making this post....after all, Halloween has been over for awhile.  I wanted to show you some cute fabric that I won in a giveaway from Sharon at Vroomans Quilts.  The little pumpkin man is part of a panel with other Halloween characters on it too.  I just loved this one the best so I put him front and center.

Thanks so much, Sharon, for these fabulous fabrics.  I just LOVE Halloween fabrics and I'm looking forward to making something with these goodies....although this isn't going to happen until next year.

And on anther note.... Kirby's 1st Hatchday was Wednesday, December 2.  Hard to believe he is already one year old.  We are still on a learning curve....one day, everything goes quite well....then next day I'm close to wringing his neck....(not really)!  I just took this picture a minute ago for this post and you can see that he is quite the camera ham.....loves all techie goodies so I have to keep a close watch on him so that he doesn't peck the keys off of things.  He's a goof ball, but I love him!

Happy 18th Birthday Oliver!!

I can't believe that I've had 17 precious years (he was 1 when I adopted him) with my little Oliver.  Time certainly slips away.  Oliver has been such a joy with the most gentle, loving personality you could ever ask for.  Even taking this picture.... I was about 2" away from his face and he just snuggled in while I took shot after shot around his face.  He's very patient with me!

Last year on his birthday, I wrote that I didn't know if he'd see his next birthday or not.... I guess I have to say it again, with the hope that he will have a great year ahead of him.  His health issues are serious, but as long as he seems to have a happy, fulfilling life, I'll celebrate each delightful day spent with him!

Thanks for being my cat, Ollie!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVER!

Today is Oliver's 17th birthday.....or at least his "approximate" birthday.  I adopted Oliver from the ASPCA 16 years ago and the vet estimated his age at 1 year at that time.  Since his assumed birthday is February 22, also George Washington's birthday, Oliver's middle name is Washington...... Oliver Washington.

I had no intention of adopting a cat.  I stopped at the pet shop to pick up dog food for my Labrador, Arielle (she passed away a few years after I adopted Oliver) where the ASPCA had set up an adoption area in the store for the day.  Long story short, I fell in love,  filled out the application and Oliver came home with me the next day.

He and Gracie have enriched my life in so many ways.  All of you pet lovers understand that a pet in your life can be one of your greatest comforts.  Gracie passed last July causing great grief for Oliver (and me) but he now seems to be doing well on his own.

I don't know how much longer I will have Oliver.  He has two life threatening health issues that are somewhat under control as of this writing.  I hope to have a few more years with him, but this is an unknown, making this birthday very special. The quality of his life is still very good but it could change in a heartbeat and I keep very close tabs on his health and behaviors.

So, today, I celebrate Oliver's loving personality, his unconditional love, and his tender charm.   I thank God for creating animals that would become faithful, loving companions through life's ups and downs, giving everything of themselves, asking nothing in return.

Happy Birthday, my sweet Oliver!

Here's a recent project that was a birthday gift for Kathy.  I love these little table holders and all of the quick quilts you can make for display.  The cake is simple enough for any celebration, not just birthdays.

And here's a close up.  (There is no yellowing....not sure why it looks this way.)  I'm still playing it safe with  simple stippling quilting, but it does the job.

Happy 13th Birthday, Lily!

My friend's granddaughter turned 13 today (going on 21). I've known her since she was born, have changed her diapers, have watched her grow into a young lady, and the years have just flown by. She had a swim party and sleep over with several of her friends. You know the best thing about a birthday party for a friend's 13 year old granddaugher? I get to go home and leave the giggly girls when I get tired! ;)
